1979
1979 was a legendary year. It was the year of the Sony Walkman. The year that the Sahara desert saw 30 minutes of snow. The year Pluto baffled science by travelling inside Neptune's orbit. It was the year that China implemented it's One kid per Family thing. And on the 18th, I was born. Whoo-hoo. 28 long years Have I walked this little ball of rock this Sunday. And I'm actually quite looking forward to it. Not like stupid 2006.
2006 was in comparison to many years I've had, naff. Most of it was spent worrying and being more emotional than a Goth kid on Emo pills. But me and Bexs pulled through at the end and it seemed like the world was OK again. 2007 threatens to be a bit more of the same.. but not quite. 2006 had very little hope in it. 2007 is ripe with it.
Yeah, so I'm not too happy about the job I'm in. But that will soon change when I find something again, even if it's a job behind a bar. I'm slowly starting to realise that there is no 'rush' any more. Last year I was desperate to change things to make it better, which I did. But this year, and if I'm honest, the years to come do not have this attached to it. I guess it's a leftover from the rush-around life that was my degree years. I guess I just have to learn to slow it all down. I'm only 28 for goodness sake.
I've allowed myself to dream a bit more, because dreams are important. And I've decided that life is actually OK. After all, I follow a God of Love, I have a wife that loves me, awesome friends, and that's before I get to some of the cool stuff I've collected. Life is Good. 2007 will be the year I decided to chill out a lot, the year I played Final Fantasy XII, the year I saved up for a new car, the year I got a job I enjoy, the year when I learned to live life rather than trundle through it. At least, that's the plan. Hope it works... my plans don't always work out as I want them. But heck, at least I'll give it a damn good go.
