Given a nudge by God
I can always tell when God needs me to do something not covered by scripture, because people will come up to me and start talking about the subject that's on his heart. Yesterday two folks at church discussed my car, and it made me realise that I'd completely forgotten about the MOT on my car, which should have been sorted.. well.. ages ago really. Out of sight, out of mind I guess. But without an MOT my insurance could be null and I'm being a wee bit illegal. After these discussions, I had a bit of a chat with Bexs about it, and I'm seriously considering the following.
First, I'm going to get my car taken for an MOT at the soonest possible date. Pass or fail, it needs to be done. I can at least afford the test.
Second, if it fails and we can't afford to fix it, I'm going to declare it Off-road at the end of the month when the tax runs out, and keep it there until we have enough money to fix it or buy a new one, whichever is the more valid option.
Third, I'm going to keep the car off the road so no little oik will vandalise it or some resposible (but annoying) citizen reports it as stolen or something. This means that me and Bexs will have to use..public transport. Eww.
Work, work
It's my second week at my new job, and I must say all is going well. The overall manager is back from her hols and so it'll be interesting to see how it all pans out. So far I'm enjoying the job, especially now I'm getting into the swing of things. A change is as good as a rest and all that. It's a totally different vibe from being a barman! :P I'm not too sure about everything yet, especially stuff about the products we sell, but this will come in time. And I'm loving the new hours. Evenings off rock!!
Ubergeek
My geekiness continued this week as I continued to tweak my PC. I spent the better part of Sunday after church trying to fix the monitor, which led me to realise I needed a graphics card driver, which led me onto several other problems. I stumbled upon a download for Windows Security Pack 2, which was a golden find. I installed the pack, and lo! All of my problems were fixed. My monitor and graphics card both work fine. I then decided to figure out why my DVD drive wasn't running anymore, so I tore my lil PC open to discover the simple truth.. it wasn't connected. I must have pulled out the connection when I changed the hard drive for the first time.
With my problems now solved, I bit the bullet and tried to install FFXI again. I'd tried using my CD-Rewrite drive to install them, but for some reason it's always hated me and never done as it's told. This time around I used my faithful DVD drive, which happily installed everything with no fuss whatsoever. Huzzah! Last night I left it updating, and FFXI is now ready for me to play again. Whoohoo! Tonight I'm going to install the Treasures of Aht Urghan disk, which is again going to take a little time. But no nasty surprises this time around.
Next on my geek list- learning about partitions...

I hope your car passes its MOT Matt, we went through the same thing a couple of months ago and ours was just fine, made a change from £1000 the year before.
God has a strange way to grab our attention sometimes.
